When you grow Red Ranunculus flowers expect them to be mistaken for roses. They do have a similar appearance, but we think ranunculus blooms steal the show. Their buds are full with curly stems to make your bouquets stand out. They somehow combine a classic feel with contemporary flare. If you've never grown ranunculus, the Red variety is a great place to start.

Note: In Zones 8–10, ranunculus are grown as perennials—plant in fall for spring blooms. In Zones 4–7, they are treated as cool-season annuals. Start corms indoors in late winter and transplant after nights stay above 30°F, or dry-store them and plant in spring after hard frosts.

    Planted in fall when received, as instructed in both pots and in the ground. I had a few poking through in the middle of the winter, which had me worried. Those died and now have zero flowers coming up and the corms have disintegrated.

    This is a follow up to my review of when I received the corns. They all sprouted but most produced few leaves and are very small plants. I don’t expect them to bloom. I do have one bloom today and it is spectacular. I will probably try to harvest the forms this fall and see what they look like. All in all they have not worked out well for me.

    I purchased 20 corms and when they arrived I was shocked to see how small they were. The largest was around the size of a quarter. Most were around the size of a nickel. Some were smaller than a penny. I planted them all and put them under light. Within a week they started poking their heads out of the potting mix and so far it looks like about 75% have sprouted. I'm still hopeful for the others. I expect to have smaller plants with a few flowers this season. Maybe they will surprise me, since they have already with the quick sprouting. Maybe when I harvest the corms to overwinter them I will have some bigger ones or maybe this variety just has small corms. So far so good however. I'll update my review after the bloom season.
