Why we love yarrow
- An excellent choice for xeriscaping
- Both the foliage and flowers are highly aromatic
- Introduced to North America during the colonial era
Yarrow, Achillea millefolium, is a stunning, easy-to-grow perennial that thrives in a variety of climates and soil types, including clay. With its feathery foliage and long-lasting, flat-topped blooms, yarrow is a magnet and literal landing pad for butterflies. This drought-tolerant plant is perfect for wildflower gardens and makes an excellent choice for cut or dried arrangements. Additionally, yarrow successfully grows and blooms where deer and rabbits browse. Named after the legendary Achilles, it's said that yarrow was once used to treat the wounds of Greek soldiers. While its medicinal history is fascinating, we think yarrow is simply a fantastic addition to any perennial garden.
