Bleeding heart is an old favorite associated with gardens of long ago, but its popularity has remained undiminished. It is one of the most beautiful of our spring-flowering perennials and it deserves a place in every garden. Its graceful form, the beauty of its bloom, and the quality of its foliage make it one of the most valuable plants for the spring border. Even in a small garden, bleeding heart does not seem out of place in spite of the widespread of its arching branches. It flowers in May with the tulips and the late narcissus, and it remains in bloom for almost six weeks. Graceful stems bear hanging, deep pink and white, heart-shaped flowers which diminish in size towards the tip of the branches.
