A mid-season peony, Jumbo Shirley Temple shows white double blooms with hints of pink that fade to ivory white as the season progresses, the same as her standard variety. Though our Jumbo peonies produce the same size blooms as standard peonies, these jumbo roots have five to eight eyes, while our regular size has two to four. This size difference is because our Jumbo roots are more mature, allowing them to produce larger plants and typically bloom in their first year.

    This is my 2nd spring/summer with the jumbo Shirley Temple peony. It just doesn't seem to be growing or thriving. There have still not been any flowers and the plant was only about 6 inches tall this year with a few leaves.

    I HAVE PURCHASED SIX SHIRLEY TEMPLE PEONYS. FOUR ARE DONG FANTASTIC. THE OTHER TWO HAVE HAD A SLOW START BUT, THEY ARE DOING OK AND THINK THEY WILL BE GOOD. THEY WERE PURCACED LAST YEAR.

    Peony Roots - Jumbo Shirley Temple

    I ordered these on 9/17, but they did not ship until 10/27. Unfortunately, I am in Zone 3 / Zone 4, and there was already snow on the ground. I planted them as soon as I received them in a full sun, well-drained spot, mulched, and hoped for the best, Unfortunately, I don't think they had enough time to develop any kind of roots, as full winter had already set in a few weeks before they shipped. No signs of life (whereas my other peonies are putting up shoots).
