With a mid-June planting, they had a later start and may have devoted much of their first season to developing roots and foliage before cooler fall weather arrives. Flowering can also be influenced by the amount of sunlight they receive, growing conditions, and excess nitrogen, which can encourage leafy growth rather than blooms. We appreciate your willingness to give them more time and understand that you didn’t feel a resolution was necessary at this point. For the best opportunity next year, we recommend lifting and storing the rhizomes over winter since Callas are tender and can be damaged by prolonged freezing. Replanting them earlier next spring once conditions are warm enough should give them a longer growing season to establish and hopefully reward your patience with beautiful blooms!
