Hosta Roots - Giant Jurassic Park
Store owner replied: Hello Amber. We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. We are sorry to hear that your Hosta Roots hasn't reached the size you were expecting. Giant hostas are slow-growing perennials that typically require several growing seasons to reach their mature size. In Zone 6, a hosta planted in October will spend much of its first season establishing a strong root system before putting on significant top growth. Consistent moisture, rich organic soil, and a location with morning sun or partial shade will help encourage vigorous growth in the years ahead. Once established, Giant Jurassic Park can develop into the large specimen it's known for. We are glad we had the opportunity to assist you and appreciate the chance to provide a resolution. We stand behind our products and hope you'll enjoy watching your hosta continue to grow and thrive with each passing season!
I ordered the package of 10. What arrived were tiny samples that even though planted right away did not do well and never came back in the spring. Would not recommend.

Hosta Roots - Giant Jurassic Park
Store owner replied: Hello Donna M. Thank you for your review. We're sorry to hear that your hosta roots did not establish and failed to return the following spring. We understand how disappointing that must have been. Hosta roots are best planted in early spring or early fall, when cooler temperatures allow them to establish before periods of heat or winter dormancy. Since your order was planted in mid-June, the warmer summer conditions may have made it more difficult for the young roots to become established, even with proper care. Providing consistent moisture and planting in a location with shade or morning sun can also help improve establishment. We are glad we had the opportunity to provide a resolution. At Eden Brothers, we stand behind our products and appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. Your feedback helps us continue improving the information and support we provide to our gardeners!
We received four roots of Giant Jurassic Park in our order. They came fairly late in October, and when we planted, it snowed quite quickly after. I don't know if that's the reason none of these came up, but I'm really disappointed in Eden Brothers for not responding to my inquiry about it. I sent it May 26th, and it's June 1st, now. I'm about to do two more reviews of the other two varieties we bought because the same thing happened there, too. I don't think I'll be ordering any plants from here again.

Hosta Roots - Giant Jurassic Park
Store owner replied: Hello Jennifer. Thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear that your hosta roots did not emerge as expected. In colder climates, an early snowfall shortly after fall planting can sometimes affect establishment, and hostas are often among the last perennials to emerge in spring. Soil temperatures, moisture levels, and root development over winter can all influence how quickly growth appears. We also sincerely apologize for the delay in responding to your inquiry. Your message arrived during the busiest time of our year, which resulted in longer response times than normal. We are glad we were able to connect with you directly and provide a resolution. Thank you for your patience and for giving us the opportunity to help!
One of two roots came up this spring. Can't win them all. The plant the sprouted looks good.

Hosta Roots - Giant Jurassic Park
Store owner replied: "Hello Bob, Thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear that only one of your four Giant Jurassic Park Hosta roots established successfully. Since these roots were fall planted in Zone 9, they may have remained dormant or shown very little visible growth while establishing their root systems, with stronger top growth expected after their winter dormancy period. Hostas also require a period of winter chilling, and in the warmer parts of Zone 9, insufficient chilling can sometimes result in delayed, weak, or inconsistent spring emergence. Planting depth, roots drying out during establishment, or overly wet soil leading to crown or root rot can also affect survival. Giant Jurassic Park is naturally a slow-growing hosta and can take several seasons to reach its impressive mature size, but having only one of four roots establish is still not the result we would expect. We reached out by email to offer a resolution but haven't heard back yet, and we'd still very much like to help. Please reply to our original email when you have a chance. We stand behind our products and our Grow Guarantee and want you to have the successful results you were expecting."
What isn't mentioned is this hosta will take 12 years to reach mature size. I will be in a nursing home by then.
