Customer photo review of Swamp Milkweed Seeds - White

I started the seeds indoors spring of 2024 after cold stratification in my refrigerator. They did well in a pot outdoors that summer with no flowers. I left the pot outside all winter and it grew back from the roots in spring 2025. I found over 20 monarch caterpillars on the one potted plant. This was my favorite thing in my garden this year because of the monarchs! It was worth the wait!

    Swamp Milkweed Seeds - White

Hi! The Swamp Milkweed seeds I sowed didn't grow. I may have planted them wrong. I got the seeds last fall but didn't sow them until this Spring. I'm in Kansas, Zone 5. I sowed them along with my Cosmos and Zinnias. The Cosmos and Zinnias are thriving! Everything I've gotten from you have been amazing except for the Milkweed. Help? Thank you!

    Swamp Milkweed Seeds - White

Store owner replied: Hello Linda S. Thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear that these didn't germinate, especially when your cosmos and zinnias are thriving. Milkweed seeds generally require a period of cold, moist stratification before they will germinate. In Zone 5, they often perform best when sown outdoors in late fall or after being refrigerated in a moist medium for 30–60 days before spring planting. They also prefer consistently moist soil during germination and establishment. We previously reached out with this information but haven't heard back. We'd still love the opportunity to help. Please reply to our original email and any additional planting details so we can continue troubleshooting and work toward a resolution. At Eden Brothers, we stand behind our products and appreciate your feedback. We hope to have the opportunity to help you succeed with your next planting!

Has sprouted but not grown much.

    Swamp Milkweed Seeds - White

Store owner replied: Hello Lauren K. Thank you for your feedback! We’re glad we were able to provide some tips and a resolution for you. Please know we always stand by our seeds and are here to help if you ever have questions along the way. It’s great to hear your milkweed has sprouted. In warmer climates like Zone 10, seedlings can sometimes grow slowly at first as they focus on establishing strong root systems before putting on more visible top growth. Providing full sun, warm temperatures, and consistent moisture in well-drained soil can help encourage stronger growth. With a little time, milkweed typically begins to grow more vigorously and will provide enjoyment and is a wonderful helper for the butterflies!

Milkweed seeds require cold stratification to break dormancy and germinate. Don’t skip this step.
