These aren’t scarlet red, they’re magenta. I should have known Eden Brothers wouldn’t correct the error, since someone else had reported the same issue.

Looks different from description. I have one purple plant with dark red plumes. The other ones look so different. The foliage on other celosias were green with a tinge of purple with no flowers even into mid July. They were fertilized lightly, no heavy dose of nitrogen. I grew different varieties of Celosias in the past: Chinatown, Kimono, Fresh Look. They were all beautiful. Scarlet Plume is the least attractive one of all.

I bought these for my mother in law, who is an experienced gardener. She specifically wanted red celosia. The germination rate was excellent on these, but they ALL came up purple, and not a red purple. Dark purple. My mother in law and I were both disappointed since Eden Brothers is a favorite of mine and she was trying them for the first time.

I couldn't be more delighted with my Eden Brothers seed order. The germination rate was so much better than other seed companies, which quite frankly, has been very disappointing. I will definitely buy from them again.
