    Perennial Babys Breath Seeds

Store owner replied: Hello William Foster. Thank you for taking the time to write in a review. We are sorry you had these results. The timing could definitely contribute to poor or no germination. Perennial Baby’s Breath prefers more moderate temperatures during germination, and by June in Zone 10, high soil temperatures and intense sun can cause the shallow seedbed to dry very quickly. The seeds are small and should be sown only very shallowly, or very lightly covered, so they are especially vulnerable to drying out; even a brief dry period after germination begins can prevent successful emergence. On the other hand, frequent heavy watering to compensate for the heat can leave the soil too wet and contribute to seed rot, and Baby’s Breath particularly dislikes heavy, poorly drained conditions. For a future attempt in Zone 10, I would suggest sowing during the cooler part of the growing season, in a well-draining location, keeping the seedbed consistently moist but never saturated while germination occurs. We have reached out with these tips and an offer of a resolution, but we haven't heard back yet. Please feel free to respond to that original email, and we will be happy to help you. We want you to have a successful planting and beautiful flowers, so we are here to help when you ar e ready!
