The best dahlia bulb collections for your dream flower garden
Dahlia blooms are just as diverse in form as they are in color—spanning from the smallest pompons to largest decorative dinnerplate varieties. The bushy plants boast succulent foliage in green or purple tones. Why settle for just one color or form when you could have a blend of several?
Designing dahlia arrangements has never been easier. Eden Brothers’ exclusive dahlia bulb collections are designed to look absolutely gorgeous growing together in the field or cut for the vase. Our designers and horticulturalists have picked the trendiest colors and compiled them into the most sought-after blends that are sure to have your neighbors jealous and your friends begging for bouquets!
Do you prefer monotone mixes like the cheerful yellow Virginia Mix or the sultry Swing Dance Mix? If you adore a soft pastel palette, then you’re bound to fall in love with either the or Shirley Mix. Grow the Rembrandt Mix to add visual interest with its blend of variegated blooms, or plant Dinnerplate Mix for the largest blooms you’ve ever seen!
Dahlia bulbs are easy to grow and effortlessly rewarding
Dahlias are warm-weather flowers that must be grown as an annual in regions cooler than hardiness zone 8. The tubers can be left in the ground and overwintered in zones 8 and above. Plant dahlia bulbs in the ground a few weeks after the last average frost date, and choose a well-draining planting site that receives partial to full sun.
Dig a hole two times as deep and twice as wide for each dahlia bulb, and place the tuber in the hole with the eyes facing up. To plant a row of dahlias, dig a trench eight inches deep and place dahlia bulbs in the trench about a foot apart, much like you would plant potatoes. Rake the excess soil into the trench and your dahlias will soon sprout! Don’t water the tubers until the plants have started growing above ground—water too soon and the tubers may rot.
Dahlias are a versatile plant that thrive in five-gallon containers. Cut dahlias back to half their height when the plants reach a foot tall. Dahlias do require staking once they start producing flowers. Stake individual plants with wooden stakes or bamboo poles, or corral a row of dahlias with T-posts and bailing twine.
Buy more bulbs to maximize beauty and savings
Five bulbs is hardly enough—you might as well order ten or more bulbs and enjoy the extra savings and a much fuller garden. Dahlias will give you wonderful blooms all summer long without all the effort!
All of our dahlia bulbs have between two and three eyes, so you’ll get multiple sprouts form the same tuber. At Eden Brothers we take great pains to source our dahlia bulbs from the highest-quality suppliers so that we can supply our customers with the best dahlia bulbs on the market.
Spring is already here and summer is just around the corner, so pre-order your dahlia bulbs today. We’ll wait to ship your tubers to you until the perfect planting window for your growing zone, so you know exactly when to get your dahlias in the ground. When your dahlia bulbs arrive at your door, they’re ready to go in the ground, and flowers will follow not long after. Check out our Dahlia Bulbs Planting Guide for complete instructions.
